A user is assigned two writable volumes, one created using a Windows 7 and another using a Windows 10 machine.

Which of the following scenarios will happen when the user logs on to a Windows 10 VM?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

A user can have more than one Writable Volume attached at the same time if the volume is OS-specific, or created for a computer with a specific prefix. For example, suppose that you create a Writable Volume for each of the following:

A Windows 7 machine

A Windows 10 machine

A computer with Win2012-dev prefix to its name

A computer with Win2012-test prefix to its name

Then, when the user logs in to these different machines at the same time, each Writable Volume that is assigned to the specific machine is attached to the user at the same time.

I agree with since a machine can have only one writable volume attached, only the Windows 10 volume will get attached.

But what if the machine can only have one writable volume attached at a time?

I disagree, I believe only the writable volume created using a Windows 10 machine will get attached.

I think both writable volumes will get attached to the Windows 10 machine.

I don't know, this seems a bit confusing. Is there some kind of rule about only being able to have one writable volume attached at a time? That's what option B seems to be implying.

Well, the question says the user is assigned two writable volumes, so I guess that means both of them should be accessible in some way. The way I see it, either both volumes get attached, or none of them do.

No, I believe since a machine can only have one writable volume attached, none of them will get attached.

Yeah, that's a good point. But what about the other volume created on the Windows 7 machine? Will that not be accessible at all?

Hmm, that's interesting. My initial thought is that the writable volume created on the Windows 10 machine should be the one that gets attached, since it was created on a compatible OS.

Okay, let me try to break this down. The user has two writable volumes - one created on a Windows 7 machine and another on a Windows 10 machine. The question is asking what will happen when the user logs on to a Windows 10 VM.

This is a tricky question. I'm not sure if I fully understand the scenario being presented. Can someone help me wrap my head around it?
