The security administrator turns on logging for a firewall rule.

Where is the log stored on an ESXi transport node?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

The log for a firewall rule on an ESXi transport node is stored in the /var/log/dfwpktlogs.log file. This file contains information about the packets that match or do not match the firewall rules, such as the source and destination IP addresses, ports, protocols, actions, and rule IDs. The log file can be viewed using the esxcli network firewall get command or the vSphere Client.

I don't know much about ESXi, but I'm pretty sure the firewall logs aren't stored in the messages.log. That's just for general system messages.

Hmm, I'm not sure, but I'll guess D. The fw.log file seems like a common name for firewall logs.

I'm going with B. The messages.log file seems like the most generic log location.

I believe it might be in /var/log/dfwpktlogs.log instead.

I think it's C. That log file sounds specific to the firewall logs.

Yes, I think so too. It makes sense that firewall logs would be stored in a file specific to them.
