I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the background element needs to be both configured and the user needs permissions to see it. So A and D sound right to me.

Yes, that's correct. The element should be added under Configure People Profile and permissions granted under Set User Permissions.

Wait, there are two correct answers? I was just going to say D, but now I'm second-guessing myself. Maybe A and D?

Haha, I bet the person who wrote this question got a kick out of putting C in there. That's just a random bit of the data model, it has nothing to do with visibility.

I think option C) is important because the element needs to be included in the data model template for it to be visible in People Profile. It's like the foundation for displaying the background element.

B is definitely wrong, that's for creating picklists, not for making background elements visible. I'd go with A and C.

I'm not sure about option C) The element is listed in the section of the data model. Can someone explain why this is a prerequisite?

I agree with Edelmira. Those two options make sense because without adding the element and granting permissions, the background element won't be visible.
