So the correct answer is B) Electricity use in offices and data centers, good to know for the exam.

That makes sense, Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions not covered in Scope 2.

I think business travel falls under Scope 3 emissions, not Scope 2.

As an avid private jet enthusiast, I'm hoping D) is the right answer. Maybe I can write that off as a business expense later.

Hmm, I was going to say A) Business travel, but now I'm second-guessing myself. This one's tricky!

D) Corporate private jet travel sounds like a good option, but I'm not sure if that's considered Scope 2. I need to review the GHG protocol again.

Definitely, Scope 1 is for direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company. Corporate private jets would absolutely fall under that. Good catch, Bette!

Ah, I see. That makes sense. B) Electricity use in offices and data centers is the clear winner here. I can't imagine a scenario where corporate private jet travel would be considered Scope 2. That's got to be Scope 1, right?

Hmm, I don't think business travel would be Scope 2. That would likely fall under Scope 3 emissions, which are all other indirect emissions in a company's value chain. Scope 2 is specifically for purchased electricity, heat, or steam.

I'm not so sure about that. Couldn't business travel also be considered a Scope 2 emission? I mean, we're still indirectly causing emissions by having our employees travel for work.

I agree with Novella. Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy. Electricity use in offices and data centers is a classic example of that.

This question is a bit tricky, but I think the correct answer is B) Electricity use in offices and data centers. Scope 2 emissions are those associated with the generation of electricity, heat, or steam purchased and consumed by the reporting company.
