I think the key is to use the Derive statement with the MasterCalendar table to analyze the dates separately by Year Month and Quarter.

That's an interesting perspective, but I still think concatenating Orders and OrderDetails can help solve the data model issues.

I disagree, I believe deleting the ShipmentID in the Orders table and creating a link table using the MasterCalendar table is the way to go.

I think the data architect should create a key with OrderID and ProductID in the OrderDetails table and in the Orders table.
