How are CN-Series firewalls licensed?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

CN-Series firewalls are licensed by data-plane vCPU. Data-plane vCPU is the number of virtual CPUs assigned to the data plane of the CN-Series firewall instance. The data plane is the part of the CN-Series firewall that processes network traffic and applies security policies. CN-Series firewalls are licensed by data-plane vCPU, which determines the performance and capacity of the CN-Series firewall instance, such as throughput, sessions, policies, rules, and features. CN-Series firewalls are not licensed by service-plane vCPU, management-plane vCPU, or control-plane vCPU, as those are not factors that affect the licensing cost or consumption of CN-Series firewalls. Haha, yeah, it's like they're playing some kind of airplane-themed game with these firewalls. Next thing you know, they'll be licensing them based on the number of 'hangar-plane' vCPUs or something. *rolls eyes* But in all seriousness, I think you guys are on the right track. Let's go with B and see how we do!

You know, now that I think about it, the control-plane might be important too. That's where the firewall's management and configuration lives, so it could be that the licensing takes that into account as well. Maybe it's a combination of the service-plane and control-plane vCPUs?

Ooh, that's an interesting idea! A hybrid licensing model that considers both the service-plane and control-plane resources. I like it. Though, I have to say, the sheer number of 'planes' in these firewalls is starting to make my head spin. It's like they're trying to confuse us on purpose!

Definitely, it adds a layer of complexity but also provides more flexibility in terms of resource allocation.

I think the hybrid licensing model is a smart approach though.

I agree, it can get overwhelming with all these different 'planes' to consider.
