Router R1 is a route reflector with clients R2, R5 and R6. Prefixes advertised by router R5 have a local preference of 200. Router R3 advertises the prefix 192.168.1.0/27 to routers R5 and R6.

Assuming that none of the routers in AS 65540 is configured with "advertise-external", what is the expected output of "show router bgp routes on router R1?

I'm pretty sure the answer is Option B, but I'm also wondering why Router R3 is advertising a prefix to R5 and R6 when they're not in the same AS. Maybe R3 is just feeling generous with its bandwidth.

I'm feeling lucky today, so I'm going to go with Option A. Who needs to actually understand BGP when you can just guess, right?

Option D looks good to me. The question states that none of the routers in AS 65540 is configured with 'advertise-external', so R1 should not have the prefix 192.168.1.0/27 in its routing table.

Because based on the local preference of 200 for prefixes advertised by R5, Option C seems more likely.

I think the answer should be Option B. The router R1 is a route reflector and it will reflect the routes advertised by the clients R2, R5, and R6. Since R5 has a local preference of 200, its routes will be preferred over the routes advertised by R3.

Yes, I think so too. R1 will reflect the routes from R5 with the higher local preference.

I agree, Option B seems to be the correct choice. The local preference of 200 for R5 should make its routes preferred on R1.
