Wait, what about Microsoft Defender for APIs? Wouldn't that be more suitable since App1 is calling App2 and retrieving data from storage1?

Hmm, I'd say Microsoft Defender for App Service is the way to go here. It can monitor suspicious activity on your App1 and alert you if something's fishy.
