What is the default timeout value for TCP sessions on an SRX Series device?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

By default, TCP has a 30-minute idle timeout, and UDP has a 60-second idle timeout. Additionally, known IP protocols have a 30-minute timeout, whereas unknown ones have a 60-second timeout. Setting the inactivity timeout is very useful, particularly if you are concerned about applications either timing out or remaining idle for too long and filling up the session table. According to the Juniper SRX Series Services Guide, this can be configured using the 'timeout inactive' statement for the security policy.

60 seconds? That's the perfect time to grab a snack and come back refreshed. I'm confident C is the way to go.

Let's go with 60 seconds, it seems like the best option for the default timeout value.

30 minutes? That's enough time to watch a full episode of your favorite show while waiting for the session to time out. I'm going with D.

I prefer the default of 60 minutes, gives me enough time to finish a task before it times out.

That's true, but maybe they want to keep it short for security reasons.

But wouldn't a longer timeout be more practical for TCP sessions?

Ah, the good ol' SRX series. I bet the default timeout is just long enough for a coffee break, right?
