iSQI Exam CTAL-TM_Syll2012 Topic 1 Question 73 Discussion

Actual exam question for iSQI's CTAL-TM_Syll2012 exam
Question #: 73
Topic #: 1
[All CTAL-TM_Syll2012 Questions]

After a selection process you have selected a test management tool that is going be introduced in your organization and used by your test team in a pilot project.

You have already identified the member of your test team who will be the administrator of the tool, since he/she has a significant experience with the administration of test management tools and so he/she is able to make effective and efficient up-front decisions about "how" the tool will be used.

You have also developed a training plan for the other members of your test team.

In collaboration with the administrator of the tool you have also devised standard ways of managing, storing and maintaining the tool and its assets including backup/restore procedures.

You have also analyzed standard formats supported by the tool (CSV, XLS, XML, etc.) to export, import and archive all the information managed by the tool itself (requirements, test case specifications, test plans etc.) for compliance with the most important test management tools, in order to minimize the impacts of migrating this information to a new tool that could replace the existing one in the future.

Which of the following phases in the lifecycle of the new tool has NOT been adequately considered in this description?

I think the answer is D) Retirement. I mean, who wants to think about the end when they're just getting started? But trust me, that day will come, and you don't want to be caught with your pants down. Maybe they could hire a professional 'tool undertaker' to handle the final rites.

A) Acquisition, hands down. I mean, they've got the tool, but what about the selection process? Did they really explore all the options, or did they just go with the first one that looked shiny? Someone needs to ask the tough questions, like 'Does this tool come with a complimentary unicorn?'

I agree with you, Yuki. It's important to plan for the retirement phase of the tool as well.

B) Support and maintenance, for sure. They've got the administrator all set up, but what about the long-term maintenance and updates? That's the real challenge, especially when the test team starts tinkering with the settings. Just wait for the 'oops, I broke it' emails to start flowing in.

D) Retirement, without a doubt. They've put so much effort into setting up the tool, they've probably forgotten that it'll eventually need to be put out to pasture. Don't worry, I'll make sure to include a few puns about 'retiring' the tool in my answer.

Hmm, I think the answer is C) Evolution. They've covered the acquisition, support, and even the retirement phase, but the evolution of the tool seems to have been overlooked. Gotta keep up with the times, you know?

Maybe they should revisit their plan and include strategies for the evolution phase.

Yeah, we need to make sure the tool can adapt to changes and updates in technology.

I agree, it's important to consider the evolution phase to ensure the tool stays relevant.
