Which of the following are feedforward neural networks?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A, D

Feedforward neural networks (FNNs) are networks where information moves in only one direction---forward---from the input nodes through hidden layers to the output nodes. Both fully-connected neural networks (where each neuron in one layer connects to every neuron in the next) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) (which have a specific architecture for image data) are examples of feedforward networks.

However, recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and Boltzmann machines are not feedforward networks. RNNs include loops where information can be fed back into previous layers, and Boltzmann machines involve undirected connections between units, making them a form of a stochastic network rather than a feedforward structure.

I feel like I should know this, but my brain is just not cooperating. Maybe I need to trade in my neural network for a spaghetti network instead.

Boltzmann machines? Sounds like some kind of spooky neural network. I'm going with the safer options, like fully-connected and convolutional.

I agree, Boltzmann machines do sound spooky. I'm sticking with fully-connected and convolutional too.

Recurrent neural networks are not feedforward, that much I know. But I'm drawing a blank on the rest. Time to hit the books!

I think A) Fully-connected neural networks are feedforward because they have no cycles in their connections.

Convolutional neural networks are definitely feedforward, I remember that from my deep learning class. The others... hmm, not so sure.

I'm pretty sure fully-connected neural networks are feedforward, but I'm not sure about the others. Gotta study up on my neural network types!
