I'm not sure, but I think option A) Email notification to be sent via iControl from the LTM device could also work.

D all the way! Why make it complicated with SNMP traps or Syslog when you can just use the built-in email functionality? F5 makes it easy.

I was thinking B, but D makes more sense. Syslog would just be sending the notification to a server, while SMTP can actually send the email directly.
