Which one of the following is not a valid acknowledgement frame?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

RTS is not a valid acknowledgement frame. RTS stands for Request To Send, and it is a control frame that is used to initiate an RTS/CTS exchange before sending a data frame. The purpose of an RTS/CTS exchange is to reserve the medium for a data transmission and avoid collisions with hidden nodes. An acknowledgement frame is a control frame that is used to confirm the successful reception of a data frame or a block of data frames. The valid acknowledgement frames are CTS (Clear To Send), Ack (Acknowledgement), and Block Ack (Block Acknowledgement) . I agree with Lizbeth, Block Ack is not a valid acknowledgement frame. It is used for block acknowledgements in Wi-Fi networks.

I believe Block Ack is not a valid acknowledgement frame because it is used for block acknowledging multiple frames.

I disagree, RTS is actually a valid acknowledgement frame because it is used to request permission to send a data frame.

The RTS (Request to Send) frame is not a valid acknowledgement frame. RTS is used in conjunction with CTS (Clear to Send) to clear the air for data transmission, but it does not serve as an acknowledgement frame. The valid acknowledgement frames are Ack and Block Ack , Answer would be A (RTS)

Because Block Ack is used for Block Acknowledgement and not as a regular acknowledgement frame.
