CIPS Exam L4M4 Topic 2 Question 15 Discussion

Actual exam question for CIPS's L4M4 exam
Question #: 15
Topic #: 2
[All L4M4 Questions]

Which of the following are signs that modern-day slavery might be taking place within the supply chain? Select THREE.

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A, B, C

The correct answers are; suspiciously low labour costs, workers living on site and poor quality products (as this signals that the workforce may be unskilled).

A low score on the CPI is a good thing (high scores are more likely to signify slavery concerns) and just because someone speaks English as a second language doesn't mean you automatically need to be suspicious. That would be prejudice.

Looks like we need to brush up on our global awareness. D is just plain offensive. Let's stick to the real signs like A, C, and E.

As someone who's been to a few developing countries, I can tell you that C and E are dead giveaways. Keep an eye out, folks.

Haha, 'poor quality products'? That's a sign of bad business, not necessarily slavery. But A, C, and E are spot on.

D? Seriously? That's just a lazy stereotype. I'd focus on the more substantive indicators like low labor costs and on-site living.

I would also add supplier based in a country with a low corruption perception index. That could indicate exploitation.

A, C, and E are definitely signs of potential modern-day slavery. You can't ignore those red flags.
