Actual exam question for CIPS's L3M4 exam
Question #: 22
Topic #: 2
[All L3M4 Questions]

'A team has a common XXXX and YYYY'.

Select the one which fits best.

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Purpose and goals - the description is part of the definition of a team.

Language and culture might immediately appeal, but is not the correct answer. Teams might com-monly have the same employer. Captain and uniform is a mild attempt at humour - teams don't need a uniform, although some do eg airline crews and footballers.

I'm not sure, but I think B) Language and culture could also be important for a team to have in common.

Haha, C has got to be the funniest option. Employer and hobbies? That's like saying a knitting club is the same as the Justice League. D is the way to go, no doubt.

I agree with Tasia, a team definitely needs a common purpose and goals to work towards.

I was going to go with A, captain and uniform, but then I remembered my old intramural dodgeball team. We had the same t-shirts but never won a single game. Clearly, that's not what defines a real team.

D, definitely. Without a shared purpose and goals, you're just a bunch of random people wearing the same outfit. Like a football team where everyone has their own agenda - it would be a disaster!

I was thinking B, language and culture, but D makes more sense. You can have a shared language and background, but if the team doesn't have a common purpose, it's not really a team, is it?

Exactly, having a shared language and culture is important, but having a common purpose is what truly unites a team.

I agree, D does make more sense. Without a common purpose and goals, the team may not function well.

Gotta be D - purpose and goals. That's what really binds a team together, not just superficial stuff like uniforms or hobbies.

True, but ultimately it's the shared goals that unite a team.
