ARDMS Exam SPI Topic 5 Question 17 Discussion

Actual exam question for ARDMS's Sonography Principles and Instrumentation exam
Question #: 17
Topic #: 5
[All Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Questions]

Which ultrasound adjustment allows for an increased frame rate in color flow Doppler?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

Frame rate in color flow Doppler is influenced by several factors, including the imaging depth. Decreasing the depth reduces the time it takes for sound waves to travel to the imaging area and back to the transducer. This allows for more frames to be captured per second, thereby increasing the frame rate. Higher frame rates improve temporal resolution, making it easier to visualize moving structures.

Nah, using continuous wave Doppler doesn't sound right. Gotta be one of the other options that actually makes sense for color flow imaging.

Multiple focal zones? That's an interesting choice, but I'm not sure that would increase the frame rate. Seems like a tricky one.

I'm not sure, but I think D) Increasing sector scan width could also help in increasing the frame rate.

Hmm, I think increasing the sector scan width would be the way to go for a higher frame rate in color flow Doppler. That's my pick!
