That's a good point, Throughput Optimized HDD could provide the necessary performance at a lower cost.

I think Throughput Optimized hard disk drives (HDD) could also be a good option for this type of workload.

But wouldn't Provisioned IOPS storage be more expensive compared to General Purpose SSD storage?

I disagree, I think Provisioned IOPS storage would be more suitable for the nightly batch processing.

I believe General Purpose SSD storage would be the best option for this scenario.

I think we should choose the most cost-effective RDS storage option for migrating the database.

Because it has lower cost compared to SSD and still provides decent performance for batch processing.

Why do you think Magnetic storage would be better?

That's a good point. It might be worth the extra cost for better performance.

Definitely, the Throughput Optimized HDD seems like the way to go. It should provide enough performance for the batch processing without breaking the bank. Although, I do wonder how much Amazon charges for their 'Bulk Discount' on hard drives - maybe we should look into that.

Yeah, I agree. Provisioned IOPS is probably too much for a nightly batch processing workload. I'd be leaning towards the Throughput Optimized HDD option as the most cost-effective choice here.

You're right, the performance needs are key here. I'm thinking either Provisioned IOPS or Throughput Optimized HDD could work, but Provisioned IOPS might be overkill and more expensive than necessary.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. The database is 4 TB and primarily used for nightly batch processing, so I'd say we need to look at the performance requirements more than just the storage size.
