I feel like I learned this in my high school civics class. How could anyone not know the standard of proof in civil cases is preponderance of evidence? That's like Civil Trials 101.
Haha, imagine if civil juries had to be the same size as criminal juries. Can you imagine 12 people trying to agree on a slip and fall case? That would be a circus!
I'm pretty sure neither side can appeal an adverse judgment in a civil case. Isn't that the whole point of a civil trial, to get a final resolution without endless appeals?
D sounds about right. In civil cases, the standard of proof is usually the preponderance of evidence, not the higher 'beyond reasonable doubt' standard used in criminal trials.
